Welcome to my new experiment: OwndogLife.com!
Let’s get one thing out of the way right off the bat: what exactly is an Owndog? What does it mean?
Owndog is a mentality. A mindset. A state of being. It’s how you choose to go at life; you can limp through or you can get out there and Own, Dog!
Throughout my life I’ve hit those ups and downs we are all familiar with. I had choices on how I reacted and responded to those ups and downs. It’s not always easy to be positive, but the reality is that negativity is really not helping. Negativity can cloud your mind and, consequently, your decision making ability. Positivity in and of itself doesn’t fix much, but it does do wonders toward helping you fix things.
Additionally, and this took a while to learn, the ability to move past a mistake and onto a solution was something I have found tremendously helpful. We oftentimes spend so much energy finding reasons why things went wrong. I am all for learning the why, as you can find true improvement there. This means being open about external factors (things you cannot control) and internal factors (things you absolutely can control).
A true Owndog accepts this and focuses on improving themselves. They accept they aren’t perfect but not using that as an excuse to be less than their best. They Own their mistakes and work toward not making the same mistakes over and over. They try their best to be their best (and God knows it’s hard sometimes) and they get out there and Make a Great Day.
You can be an Owndog, too! The club is open to any and all who make the choice to come in!
With that out of the way, who the heck am I? I am the Owndog! I am the leader of this movement, but don’t worry; I make a great leader!
Those who know me know that I do a lot of different things creatively and that it is oftentimes hard to classify just what it is I do. Long story short, I am an entertainer. I make my living by bringing joy to other people through many different art forms. Videos, to music to voice work and a little of everything in between.
No matter the form, though, there is one tie that binds; one thread woven throughout, whether video, photo, spoken word or or written: Storytelling.
I am a storyteller. A yarn spinner. If I were a D&D class I would be a bard. I enjoy using videography, photography, writing, and gaming to tell stories.
This site, the blog, and the newsletter launching soon™ are the best ways to keep up with Owndog and share some time on this wacky journey!
Come along for the ride and learn how to live that OwndogLife!
